ONEONTA, N.Y. – Despite outscoring Hartwick College, 4-3, down the stretch, the Plattsburgh State women's lacrosse team fell, 19-8, to the Hawks on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
Hartwick finished with a 32-23 edge in shots and a 25-21 cushion in ground balls while going 14-for-19 on clears. Plattsburgh State held the upper hand in draw controls (18-10) and went 7-for-15 on clears. The Cardinals went 3-for-6 on free-position shots, while the Hawks went 1-for-4.
Plattsburgh State falls to 1-4 overall with the loss and next visits the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday, March 20, at 4 p.m. Hartwick rises to 2-3 overall with the win and next hosts Houghton College in its Empire 8 opener on Saturday, March 23, at 1 p.m.

Frankie Porcaro put the Cardinals on the board at 23:06 of the first half before Hartwick opened up an 8-1 advantage by scoring five straight goals. Sophomore defender/midfielder Cassie Durkin scored twice during that span—including one woman-up goal—while sophomore attacker/midfielder GinaMarie Wilson, senior attacker Hailey Pooler and junior midfielder Jennifer Darasz also found the back of the cage.

Emily Caoili with 4:06 remaining in the first, while a goal by Hartwick's Schaub gave the Hawks an 11-3 lead heading into halftime.

Reece Wiley and Caoili both scored unassisted before Knapp responded for Hartwick with 2:45 left in regulation. Just 10 seconds before the final horn, Tanner found the back of the net to spell the final score.

Hartwick received five-point performances from Darasz and Pooler, with Darasz recording three goals and two assists and Pooler tallying five points on a goal and four assists. Tracy (two goals, two assists), Wilson (three goals, one assist), Knapp (three goals, one assist) and Durkin (three goals, one assist) all had four points, while Schaub earned three points on two goals and an assist.
