LEXINGTON, S.C. – The Plattsburgh State baseball team opened up conference play on Saturday with a 7-0 loss to Oswego State at Lexington Stadium.
Plattsburgh State is now 2-4 overall and 0-1 in the SUNYAC while Oswego improves to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Sophomore
Simon Alvarez (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) recorded two of the Cardinals five hits while junior
Stephen Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches), junior
Stephen Lydon (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Suffolk CC) and senior
Jon Craft (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) all had one.
The Lakers scored in the third inning off a triple to right center and scored in the fifth off a single.
Oswego State scored five runs in the eighth off a single, two errors, another single and a double.
Matt Fox (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) pitched six innings and gave up seven hits, two runs, walked two and struck out five.
Junior
Kyle Petruzzi (West Islip, N.Y./Suffolk CC) pitched 1.1 innings and allowed one hit, two runs, walked one and struck out one.
Junior
Connor Lyons (Brookhaven, N.Y./Bellport) pitched .2 innings and gave up three hits, three runs and walked one.
Plattsburgh State will finish their series with Oswego State on Sunday with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
