PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Senior guard/forward
Bella DePasquale (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) drained seven three-pointers to lead the Plattsburgh State women's basketball to an 83-76 double overtime win against Oswego Saturday inside Memorial Hall gymnasium on senior day.
The Cardinals improve to 10-13 overall and 7-9 in the SUNYAC while the Lakers fall to 2-20 overall and 1-14 in the conference.
Plattsburgh State shot 77.8% in free throws and 31.6% in three-pointers.
DePasquale double-doubled with 21 points and 13 rebounds and added five assists.
Freshman forward
Ly'rell Walker (Yonkers, N.Y. / Roosevelt) double-doubled with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Junior guard/forward
Taylor Durnin (Lyon Mountain, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack) recorded 16 points and eight rebounds while freshman forward
Kelly Degnan (Irvington, N.Y. / Irvington) had 15 points and eight rebounds.
DePasquale started the game with two three-pointers to take a 6-0 edge.
Oswego took a one-point lead and DePasquale hit another three to take the lead back.
Sophomore guard
Theresa Quinn(Cromwell, Conn. / Cromwell) made a free throw and junior forward
Taylor Clare (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill) made a jumper for a five-point cushion.
The Lakers came within two and Quinn made a layup to end the quarter to give the Cardinals a 16-12 advantage heading into the second quarter.
Oswego came within one point of the lead with 4:42 left and Plattsburgh State went on a ten-point run for an 11-point advantage.
Degnan made a free throw, a layup and a jumper Durnin made a three and Walker had a layup.
The Lakers ended the quarter with a three-pointer and a layup to head into halftime down 31-25.
Oswego out-shot Plattsburgh State 20-13 in the third quarter to take a one-point edge heading into the fourth quarter.
The Cardinals trailed the Lakers the majority of the fourth quarter until Walker made a layup with 11 seconds left to tie the game 61-61 to force overtime.
Both teams recorded six points in the first overtime, forcing a second.
Plattsburgh State scored 16 points in the second overtime and held the Lakers to nine points.
DePasquale tied the game 74-74 with 2:26 remaining in the second overtime.
Freshmen guard
Kayla Doody (Troy, N.Y. / Tamarac) made two free throws and DePasquale made another three followed by Durnin with a layup for a seven-point cushion.
Oswego made a layup but fouled Durnin who made two free throws to give the Cardinals the seven-point double overtime victory.
Plattsburgh State is on the road Friday, Feb. 15, to play Oneonta at 5:30 p.m.
