Degnan Double-Doubles, Durnin Scores 25 Points In Woman’s Basketball 69-63 Loss To Oneonta

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Freshman forward Kelly Degnan (Irvington, N.Y. / Irvington) double-doubled with 20 points and 13 rebounds and junior guard/forward Taylor Durnin (Lyon Mountain, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack) scored 25 points in the Plattsburgh State women's basketball 69-63 loss to Oneonta inside Dewar Arena Friday night.

Plattsburgh State moves to 10-14 overall and 7-10 in the SUNYAC while Oneonta improves to 19-5 overall and 13-4 in the conference.

The Red Dragons out-shot the Cardinals 38.3% to 29.7% from the floor and out-rebounded them 48-43.

Plattsburgh State started the game with a 7-0 run.

Senior guard/forward Bella DePasquale (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) drained a three-pointer, Degnan had a jumper and Durnin put in a layup.

Durnin made a free throw after Oneonta made a basket and went on to end the quarter with three free throws and a layup to for a score of 8-7 in favor of the Cardinals heading into the second quarter.

Degnan started the second quarter with two jumpers for a five-point edge.

The Red Dragons went on a ten-point spree for a six-point lead with 4:31 left in the quarter.

Durnin made four free throws and freshmen guard Kayla Doody (Troy, N.Y. / Tamarac) put in a jumper to tie the game 18-18.

Oneonta took a two-point cushion off two free throws and Durnin drained a three and put in a layup for a three-point edge.

The Red Dragons ended the quarter with a layup and a three pointer to head into halftime up 25-23.

The lead changed in the third quarter four times and it was tied twice.

Durnin tied the game 38-38 with a free throw and the Cardinals took the lead with another free throw from Durnin and a layup from Degnan.

Oneonta took the lead back and with two seconds remaining Durnin tied the game 46-46 with two more free throws.

The Red Dragons out-scored the Cardinals 23-17 in the fourth quarter to take the six-point win.

Plattsburgh State will play New Paltz in their last regular season game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
