Patron Double-Doubles With Season High 41 Points In Men’s Basketball 91-77 Road Win Over Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Senior forward Jonathan Patron (Huntington, N.Y. / Harborfields) recorded his 14th double-double of the season tying his career high of 41 points and picked up 10 rebounds in the Plattsburgh State 91-77 triumph over Buffalo State on Sunday inside the Buffalo State Sports Arena.

Plattsburgh State improves to 17-4 overall and 11-3 in the SUNYAC while Buffalo State moves to 6-14 overall and 4-10 in the conference.

The Cardinals out-shot the Bengals 48.6% to 36.1% and out-rebounded them 52-41.

Senior guard/forward Chris Middleton (New York, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) had 14 points with six rebounds, junior guard Nick DeAngelis (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) scored 12 points and had six rebounds while freshman center Taylor Mason (Muncy, PA / Hughesville) had nine points and six rebounds.

The game was tied four times before the Cardinals took and kept the lead.

Buffalo State kept the lead within reach until Plattsburgh State went on a seven-point run for an 11-point edge.

Mason had a layup, freshman forward Liam Carey (Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) made a layup, Middleton made a free throw and Patron put in a layup.

The Bengals came within five points and the Cardinals went on a ten-point spree.

Middleton made an old-fashioned three-pointer, a layup and drained a three followed by Patron with a jumper for a 15-point advantage.

Buffalo State made a basket but Middleton made two free throws to end the half for a 47-32 lead heading into halftime.

The Bengals out-scored the Cardinals 45-44 in the second half.

Plattsburgh State took their largest lead of 17-points 59 seconds into the second half after a layup from DeAngelis and a jumper and free throw from Parton.

Buffalo State went on an eight-point run to come within nine points of the lead.

With 14:30 left, the Bengals cut the lead to seven points and with 4:36 remaining the Cardinals had a 17-point cushion.

Buffalo State out-scored Plattsburgh State 12-9 in the remaining minutes but the Cardinals were able to take the 14-point win.

Plattsburgh State is home Friday, Feb. 8, to host SUNY Cortland with tip off set for 7:30 p.m.
