BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's basketball team experienced their third road loss this week, this time to Buffalo State, 68-56, on Sunday inside the Buffalo State Sports Arena.
Plattsburgh State falls to 8-13 overall and 5-9 in the SUNYAC while Buffalo State moves to 11-10 overall and 5-9 in the conference.
The Bengals out-shot the Cardinals 81.3% to 63.6% in free throws and out-rebounded them 60-39.
Junior guard/forward
Taylor Durnin (Lyon Mountain, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack) and freshman forward
Ly'rell Walker (Yonkers, N.Y. / Roosevelt) each recorded 13 points and three rebounds.
Senior guard/forward
Bella DePasquale (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) had nine points with 10 rebounds, freshmen guard
Kayla Doody (Troy, N.Y. / Tamarac) had eight points and freshman forward
Kelly Degnan (Irvington, N.Y. / Irvington) had seven points and 11 rebounds.
Plattsburgh State started the game with an 11-0 run. Durnin drained a three-pointer, Walker made a jumper and DePasquale made two three-pointers.
Buffalo State cut the lead to four points with 5:18 left in the first quarter and with 1:33 remaining was with one point.
Durnin made a free throw to end the quarter and the Cardinals headed into the second quarter up 19-17.
Plattsburgh State held the Bengals to just six points in the second quarter and headed into halftime up 30-23 after two free throws from Degnan.
The Bengals recorded 29 points in the third quarter to take a 52-39 lead heading into the final quarter.
Buffalo State took their biggest lead of 15 points one minute into the fourth quarter.
DePasquale drained a three, Walker had a layup and Doody made a three to come within seven points.
The Bengals were able to close out the game out-scoring the Cardinals 10-5 for the 12- point win.
Plattsburgh State is home Friday, Feb. 8, to host SUNY Cortland with tip off set for 5:30 p.m.
