SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's volleyball team fell to host Skidmore College, 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-13), at the Skidmore Quad on Friday evening at Williamson Sports Center.
The Thoroughbreds hit .378 for the match while limiting the Cardinals to .012 hitting. Skidmore held the upper hand in service aces (7-3) and digs (48-25), while both teams posted four blocks.
Plattsburgh State slips to 8-18 overall with the loss and wraps up its 2019 campaign tomorrow when it faces Union College (10 a.m.) and Morrisville State College (2 p.m.) in Skidmore Quad action. Skidmore rises to 13-10 overall with the win and hosts SUNY Potsdam (10 a.m.) and SUNY New Paltz (2 p.m.) tomorrow.

Michelle Simmons (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) led the Cardinals with five kills and two block assists, while junior setter
Allyssa Rock (West Chazy, N.Y./Beekmantown) and senior setter
Brianna Coon (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) combined for 14 assists. Senior outside hitter
Megan Hyde (Schenectady, N.Y./Schalmont) led the back row defensively with eight digs.
For Skidmore, senior outside hitter Sophia Hettler, senior middle hitter Katy Ehnstrom and sophomore outside hitter/middle hitter Zoe Beals each floored eight kills, while freshman setter/right side Audrey Powell and senior setter Lauren Wolters combined for 33 assists. Defensively, Hettler and freshman outside hitter/defensive specialist Elizabeth Miller each recorded nine digs, while freshman middle hitter/right side Alex Estey (one solo, one assist) and Ehnstrom (two assist) each had two total blocks.
