SYRACUSE, N.Y. – For the sixth time this season and for the fifth consecutive week, senior Kassi Abbott (Medford, Mass./Boston Shamrocks Elite) of the Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team has been named the Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) Goalie of the Week, earning the distinction for the period ending Jan. 6, 2019.
 
This is Abbott's 10th career NEWHL Goalie of the Week honor.
 
Abbott posted a 17-save shutout in the Cardinals' 2-0 win over No. 1/1 Adrian College to open up the Norwich East-West Classic on Sunday, helping avenge Plattsburgh State's first loss of the season. She posted her NCAA Division III-leading eighth shutout of the year, giving her 17 for her career.
 
For the season, she ranks second in Division III in goals-against average (0.56) and save percentage (.970).
 
Plattsburgh State (11-2-0, 6-0-0 NEWHL) resumes NEWHL play on Saturday, Jan. 12, as it hosts Buffalo State at 3 p.m.
