BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey team earned a key State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) road win Saturday afternoon at the Tuttle North Ice Arena, as the Cardinals defeated The College at Brockport, 4-1.
The Golden Eagles finished with a 32-30 advantage in shots on goal but were unable to capitalize on seven power-play opportunities. That performance by Plattsburgh State gave the Cardinals the NCAA Division III lead in penalty kill percentage (.928). Plattsburgh State, meanwhile, went 1-for-5 with the extra attacker and scored a shorthanded goal.

Cam Owens (Wilmington, Mass./Islanders Hockey Club) helped lead the Cardinal offense with a goal and an assist, while sophomore goaltender
Jimmy Poreda (Tonawanda, N.Y./Connecticut Jr. Rangers) made 31 saves in the victory. Senior goaltender Jake Moore turned aside 26 shots in the setback for the Golden Eagles.
Plattsburgh State rises to 8-9-2 overall (6-4-1 SUNYAC) with the win and next hosts Norwich University in its final non-conference contest of the regular season on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. Brockport falls to 12-6-2 overall (4-5-2 SUNYAC) with the loss and next visits Morrisville State College on Friday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m.
