Patron Records 10th Double-Double With Season High 34 Points In 88-82 Win Over Brockport

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.- Senior forward Jonathan Patron(Huntington, N.Y. / Harborfields) recorded his tenth double-double of the year with a season high of 34 points and 14 rebounds in the Plattsburgh State men's basketball 88-82 win over Brockport Friday night inside Memorial Hall.

The Cardinals improve to 13-4 overall and 7-3 in the SUNYAC while the Golden Eagles moves to 10-6, 6-3 in the conference.

Senior guard Brandon Johnson (Greenburgh, N.Y./Woodlands) recorded 14 points, senior guard/forward Chris Middleton (New York, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) had 13 points and nine rebounds and senior forward Ian Howard (Queens, N.Y./Springfield Gardens) had ten points.

Plattsburgh State out-rebounded Brockport 46-32 and out-shot them 43.6% to 41.0%.

The lead changed 13 times and the score was tied eight times in the first half.

The largest margin was eight points after the Golden Eagles drained three, three-pointers with 17:21 left.

The Cardinals started to get into a rhythm and cut the cushion to one-point with a jumper from Johnson, a layup from Howard and two free throws from Patron.

The remainder of the half was a back and forth affair.

Brockport had a two-point edge with one minute left in the half but two free throws from Howard tied it 41-41 heading into halftime.

Patron started the second half with two free throws and the Golden Eagles tied it with a layup.

The Cardinals took a six-point cushion after Patron made two more free throws and Howard and Johnson each made layups at the 17:44 mark.

Brockport had a jumper and Middleton drained a three-pointer for a seven-point edge.

With 6:36 left the Golden Eagles tied the game 72-72 and the Cardinals retaliated with a nine-point run.

Howard made a free throw, Patron made a free throw, Middleton had a layup, Johnson drained a three and sophomore guard Travis Cox (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Frederick Douglass Academy) made two free throws.

Brockport was able to come within three points but the Cardinals ended the game with two free throws from Middleton and another from Johnson for the six-point win.

Plattsburgh State is back home Saturday, Jan. 26 to host Geneseo at 4 p.m.
