PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Senior forward
Jonathan Patron (Huntington, N.Y. / Harborfields) double-doubled with 20 points and 14 rebounds in the No. 17 Plattsburgh State men's basketball 92-71 victory over Fredonia Friday night inside Memorial Hall.
Plattsburgh State improves to 11-2 and 5-1 in the SUNYAC while Fredonia moves to 1-10 and 1-4 in the conference.
Senior guard/forward
Chris Middleton (New York, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) scored 11 points and added three assists, senior guard
Brandon Johnson (Greenburgh, N.Y./Woodlands) had 10 points with seven assists, senior forward
Isaiah Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS for Dual Language and Asian Studies) also had 10 points while senior forward
Ian Howard (Queens, N.Y./Springfield Gardens) had eight points and eight rebounds.
Plattsburgh State scored 46 point in each half while Fredonia scored 36 in the first and 35 in the second.
The Cardinals went on a seven-point run for a nine-point advantage three minutes into the game.
Howard had an old-fashioned three-pointer, Johnson had a three-pointer and Howard made a free throw.
They went on a nine-point spree for a 20-point cushion with 11:45 left in the half.
Patron made a three-pointer and a layup followed by Howard with a layup and Patron with another layup.
Plattsburgh State took a 21-point lead with 5:14 remaining.
Fredonia went on a ten-point run to end the half to head into halftime down 46-36.
The Cardinals started the second half with another seven-point spree for a 17-point edge.
Johnson had a layup, Patron made a free throw, Hill drained a three and Patron made another free throw.
With 10:26 left in the game Plattsburgh State went on a 13-point run.
Junior forward
Adam Jaquish (Moriah, N.Y./Moriah) made two free throws, sophomore guard
Travis Cox (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Frederick Douglass Academy) made one free throw, Patron made two free throws, a layup and another free throw, freshman center
Taylor Mason (Muncy, PA / Hughesville) had a layup, Patron had another layup and freshman forward
Liam Carey (Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) had a free throw.
The Cardinals took their largest lead of 32-points with 6:38 left in the game.
Fredonia ended the game with a nine-point run for a final score of 92-71.
Plattsburgh State out-rebounded Fredonia 50-40.
The Cardinals are back in action Saturday, Jan. 12, as they host SUNYAC foe Buffalo State at 4 p.m.
