Taylor Durnin (Lyon Mountain, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack) recorded a new career high of 28-points in the Plattsburgh State women's basketball 64-57 win over Fredonia Friday evening inside Memorial Hall.
Plattsburgh State improves to 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the SUNYAC while Fredonia moves to 6-6 and 3-2 in the conference.
After recording a career high of 26-points on Tuesday, Durnin rewrote her resume and led the Cardinals with 28-points while freshmen forward
Ly'rell Walker (Yonkers, N.Y. / Roosevelt) and sophomore guard
Theresa Quinn (Cromwell, Conn. / Cromwell) each had 11 points.
Fredonia out-scored Plattsburgh State 17-16 in the first quarter, which was tied four times.
The Blue Devils had a three-point edge when the Cardinals went on a seven-point run to take a four-point lead.
Walker made a layup, Quinn drained a three and Durnin had a layup.
Fredonia tied it 28-28 and took a two point cushion but two free throws from Durnin tied it 30-30 and a layup from junior forward
Taylor Clare (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill) gave the Cardinals a two-point edge.
The Blue Devils tied it again but two free throws from Durnin gave Plattsburgh State a 34-32 advantage heading into halftime.
Both teams recorded 13 points in the third quarter for a score of 47-45 heading into the final quarter with Plattsburgh State in the lead.
The quarter was tied twice and the lead changed twice before the Cardinals took and kept it.
Plattsburgh State had a ten-point cushion with 1:47 left in the game after Durnin had two layups and Walker had one.
Fredonia put in two baskets but Durnin finished the game with a free throw for the seven-point victory.
The Blue Devils out-rebounded the Cardinals 43-41 but Plattsburgh State was able to record 21 points off Fredonia's 16 turnovers.
Plattsburgh State is back in action Saturday, Jan. 12, as they host SUNYAC foe Buffalo State at 2 p.m.
