PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State baseball team falls to 10-24 overall in their season after a 12-7 loss to Middlebury (15-13) Wednesday evening at Chip Cummings Field.
The Panthers took a five-run lead after scoring off a double to center field, a two-run single to left field, a wild pitch and a single to right field in the top of the first

James Hartunian (Delmar, N.Y. / Bethlehem Central) doubled to center field in the bottom of the first to plate junior
Jon Craft (Smithtown, N.Y. / Smithtown West) and sophomore
Stephen Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) to cut to the Panthers lead to three runs.
Middlebury scored another run in the top of the second off a triple to left field and recorded three more runs in the third off a wild pitch and a two-run double.
Senior
Noah Clark (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River East) scored in the bottom of the third off a failed pick off attempt after getting on base with a double and Hartunian scored off a wild pitch to make it a 9-4 game.
The Panthers scored in the sixth off a sacrifice fly to lead 10-4.
Junior
Patrick Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) scored off a fielder's choice and S. Bryant hit a two-run single to left field to plate freshman
Jack Bermingham (Monroe, N.Y. / Monroe-Woodbury) and sophomore
Keller Kowalowski (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) to come within three runs of the Panthers in the bottom of the seventh.
Middlebury recorded a run in the eighth off a single to right field and another in the ninth off another single to right field for a total of 12 runs.
The Panthers defense was able to hold off the Cardinals for the five-run win.
Craft pitched one inning and scattered six hits, five runs and struck out one.
Senior
Jacob Stein (Bay Shore, N.Y. / Bay Shore) pitched one inning and gave up two hits, one run and struck out one.
Junior
Ryan Whalen (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) pitched one innings and dispersed one hit, three runs, walked three and struck out one.
Freshman
Chase Blazak (Pelham, N.H. / Bishop Guertin) pitched two innings and scattered one hit, walked two and struck out one.
Freshman
Matthew Triola (Saratoga Springs, N.Y. / Saratoga Springs) pitched two innings and gave up two this, one run and walked two.

Connor Lyons (Brookhaven, N.Y. / Bellport) pitched two innings and dispersed two hits, two runs, walked two and struck out two.
Plattsburgh State is home Thursday, May 3 for a doubleheader against SUNY Canton starting at 2:30 p.m.
