Cardinals Outpace Oneonta 95-74

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's basketball team outpaced Oneonta 95-74 Friday night inside Memorial Hall to improve to 19-4 overall and 16-1 in the SUNYAC while Oneonta moves to 11-3, 7-10 in the conference.

Junior forward Jonathan Patron (Huntington, N.Y. / Harborfields) double-doubled with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Senior guard Eli Bryant (Staten Island, N.Y./Michael J. Petrides School) came off the bench to score 22 points as well, while junior guard Brandon Johnson (Greenburgh, N.Y./Woodlands) scored 14 points and junior forward Isaiah Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS for Dual Language and Asian Studies) had 11.

The Cardinals recorded 43.3% from behind the arc with Johnson recording four three's and Bryant and Hill each had three.

Plattsburgh State held Oneonta to 28 points in the first half and took a ten point run to start the game.

Patron put in two layups, junior guard/forward Chris Middleton (New York, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) had a layup and Patron put in two more layups to lead 10-0 with 13:33 left in the first half.

The Cardinals took a 21 point edge with 3:10 remaining. Oneonta was able to cut it to 16 but Patron ended the half with two free throws put Plattsburgh State up 46-28 heading into halftime.

Plattsburgh State took their largest lead of 32 points with 4:37 left in the game.

Oneonta went on a nine point run to cut the edge to 23 points with 1:32 remaining and ended the game with two free throws to shorten Plattsburgh States win to 21 points.

The Cardinals are home Saturday, Feb. 17 to host New Paltz at 3 p.m. and will honor their four seniors before the game.
