ONEONTA, N.Y. – Plattsburgh State women's soccer freshmen duo of forward
Kirsten Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) and forward/midfielder
Allison Seidman (Commack, N.Y./Commack) led the Cardinals to a 2-1 win over SUNY Oneonta on Friday at Red Dragon Field.
Plattsburgh State improves to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in the SUNYAC while Oneonta moves to 5-8 and 2-5 in the conference.
Villemaire scored the Cardinals first goal four minutes into the game off a cross from Seidman.
Oneonta out-shot Plattsburgh State 5-3 in the first half but never found the back of the net.
The Cardinals offense came out tougher in the second half out-shooting the Red Dragons 10-7.
Plattsburgh States second goal came from Seidman in the 62nd minute off a shot from the wing.
Oneonta got on the board in the 77th minute with a header off a corner kick.
Plattsburgh States defense held the Red Dragons to only five shots on goal.
Graduate goalkeeper
Taylor Adams (Schenectady, N.Y./Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) recorded four saves, two in each half, while her counterpart made seven.
The Cardinals had nine shots on goal with Villemaire having four and Seidman had two.
Plattsburgh State faces off against SUNYAC rival New Paltz Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
