PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's basketball team has extended their win streak to eight games after beating Brockport 93-80 Saturday evening inside Memorial hall.
Plattsburgh State improves to 11-4 overall and 9-1 in the SUNYAC while Brockport moves to 13-4, 8-2 in the conference.
Junior guard
Brandon Johnson (Greenburgh, N.Y./Woodlands) led the Cardinals with 16 points, junior forward
Jonathan Patron (Huntington, N.Y. / Harborfields) scored 14 points and picked up eight rebounds, sophomore guard
Nick DeAngelis (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) also had 14 points, junior forward
Isaiah Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS for Dual Language and Asian Studies) had 11 points and seven rebounds while senior guard
Eli Bryant (Staten Island, N.Y./Michael J. Petrides School) had 10 points.
The game was tied five times and the lead changed three times before the Cardinals took and kept the lead.
Plattsburgh State went on a ten point run halfway through the first to take a 12 point edge. Johnson drained a three, junior guard/forward
Chris Middleton (New York, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) had a layup, junior forward
Ian Howard (Queens, N.Y./Springfield Gardens) made a free throw, Johnson put in a jumper and Bryant put in a layup.
The Cardinals went on a 12 point spree to take a 25 point advantage with 1:15 left. Hill made a layup, freshman guard
Travis Cox (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Frederick Douglass Academy) put in a layup and made the free throw, DeAngelis drained another three, senior guard
Zack Coleman (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) made a layup and the free throw and Johnson put in a free throw.
Brockport made two free throws and a three-pointer but Hill put in a layup to end the half and put the Cardinals up 54-27.
The Golden Eagles out-scored Plattsburgh State 53-39 in the second half and were able to come within 13 points of the lead by the end of the game.
Both team logged a combined 54 fouls with Brockport recording 59.5% in free throws and Plattsburgh 63.6%.
Plattsburgh State is away Tuesday, Jan. 23, to take on Potsdam with a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
