OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's basketball team captured their sixth consecutive win Saturday evening when they beat Oswego 89-75 inside Max Ziel Gymnasium.
Plattsburgh State improves to 9-4 overall and 7-1 in the SUNYAC while Oswego moves to 7-8, 4-4 in the conference.
Junior forward
Jonathan Patron (Huntington, N.Y./Harborfields) double-doubled for his third time in five games with 27 points and 12 rebounds and added three assists. Senior guard
Eli Bryant (Staten Island, N.Y./Michael J. Petrides School) came off the bench to score 18 points and had three assists while senior guard
Eric Mack (Roosevelt, N.Y./Baldwin) recorded 14 points.
The first half was tied four times before Mack dunked and sophomore guard
Nick DeAngelis (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) drained a three to lead by four points. The Lakers made a layup and Mack countered with a layup and Bryant made two three-pointers to take a ten point edge.
Oswego cut the lead to eight points and Plattsburgh State ended the first half with a nine point spree. Patron made two layups, junior forward
Isaiah Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS for Dual Language and Asian Studies) put in two free throws and junior guard/forward
Chris Middleton (New York, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) finished it with a three–pointer.
The Lakers managed to make a layup in the final 28 seconds to head into halftime down 45-30.
Oswego out-scored Plattsburgh State 45-44 in the second half but the Cardinals never backed down.

Oswego cut the lead to 16 points and Plattsburgh State extended it to 22 with a layup and free throw from Patron and another three-pointer from DeAngelis.
The Lakers went on a ten point bender to come within 12 points with 11:45 left in the game. Patron scored five more points to give the Cardinals a 17 point cushion and Bryant made it 19 with 8:10 left.
Oswego came within nine points with 4:51 remaining but Plattsburgh State prevailed and outscored the Lakers 12-7 in the final minutes to take their 14 point triumph.
Plattsburgh State out-rebounded Oswego 39-33 and scored 15 points off the Lakers 13 turnovers.
Plattsburgh State returns home Friday, Jan. 19, to play SUNYAC foe Geneseo at 7:30 p.m.
