BROCKPORT, N.Y.- Five Plattsburgh State men's basketball players scored in double digits Friday night in their unfortunate 97-95 loss to the College at Brockport.
Plattsburgh State moves to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the SUNYAC while Brockport improves to 5-2, 2-1 SUNYAC.
Plattsburgh State shot 61.1% from behind the arc and was 72.7% in free throws.
Senior guard
Eli Bryant (Staten Island, N.Y./Michael J. Petrides School) led the Cardinals with a season high of 28 points, was 6-6 in free throws and 4-6 in three-pointers. Bryant picked up seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Senior guard
Eric Mack (Roosevelt, N.Y./Baldwin) recorded 16 points, five rebounds and five blocks.
Junior guard/forward
Chris Middleton (New York, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) had 11 points, sophomore forward
Adam Jaquish (Moriah, N.Y./Moriah) also had 11 points and picked up seven rebounds and senior guard
Zack Coleman (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) had ten points.
Brockport led by 13 points with 11:52 remaining in the first half but the Cardinals offense heated up and went on an eight point bender to come within five points.
Middleton drained a three, Bryant put in a jumper then made a free throw and Jaquish made a layup.
Brockport got in a basket but a three-pointer from Coleman and another layup from Jaquish put the Cardinals within two points of the lead.
The Golden Eagles were able to extend their edge to seven points and led 47-40 at halftime.
Brockport had a 16 point advantage with 11:52 remaining in the game when the Cardinals heated up again and went on a 10 point run.
Junior forward
Isaiah Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS for Dual Language and Asian Studies) started it with a layup, followed by a three-pointer from senior guard
Tim Smith (Melbourne, Australia/Impact Academy) and Coleman had a layup then drained a three to come within six.
The Golden Eagles put in a layup but fouled Jaquish after a layup and he put in the old fashioned three to cut the lead to five. Bryant cut it to three after a steal from junior forward
Ian Howard (Queens, N.Y./Springfield Gardens) led him to a layup.
Brockport kept an edge on Plattsburgh State the remainder of the game taking a nine point lead with 3:37 remaining.
The Cardinals cut the lead to three with ten seconds left but Brockport capitalized on a foul and put in two free throws.
Middleton put in a three-pointer with one second left to cut the Golden Eagles win to just two points.
Plattsburgh State is away Saturday, Dec. 9, to play Geneseo in a conference game at 3 p.m.
