ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's volleyball team lost twice to close out State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on Saturday at SUNY Oneonta's Dewar Arena, falling to host Oneonta, 3-1 (25-20, 25-11, 17-25, 25-19), before dropping a 3-0 (25-5, 25-12, 25-15) decision to Fredonia.
Plattsburgh State drops to 6-19 overall (0-9 SUNYAC) with the loss and closes out its season on Saturday, Oct. 28, with a tri-match at Vassar College, taking on host Vassar at 11 a.m. followed by a 1 p.m. match against John Jay College. Oneonta rises to 10-16 overall (4-4 SUNYAC) and Fredonia climbs to 16-9 overall (7-1 SUNYAC) with the wins.
Oneonta 3, Plattsburgh State 1 (25-20, 25-11, 17-25, 25-19)
Oneonta held Plattsburgh State to .060 hitting in the first match of the day, and while the Cardinals posted 12 service aces to the Red Dragons' eight, Oneonta finished with a 47-27 cushion in kills and a 62-42 margin in digs.

Michelle Simmons (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) led the Cardinal attack against Oneonta, posting a .333 hitting percentage on eight kills and one error in 21 total attempts. Sophomore right side/setter
Brianna Coon (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) dished out 18 assists, while sophomore libero
Bryanne Yasui (Honolulu, Hawaii/Moanalua) and sophomore outside hitter/right side
Hunter Grotjohn (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) defended 13 and 12 digs, respectively. Simmons reinforced the front row defensively with four total blocks (one solo, three assist), while Yasui landed four service aces.
For Oneonta, senior right side/middle hitter Melissa Voyer and senior outside hitter Sara Feldman tallied 14 kills apiece, while sophomore setter Jessica Fowler distributed 42 assists. Sophomore libero Lindsay Pelaccio posted the match-high in digs with 17, while freshman middle hitter Clara Culeton finished with four total blocks (one solo, three assist).
Fredonia 3, Plattsburgh State 0 (25-5, 25-12, 25-15)
Fredonia's offense ran to the tune of a .391 hitting percentage to overpower Plattsburgh State in the Cardinals' SUNYAC finale. The Blue Devils held the upper hand in kills (42-15), service aces (7-4), blocks (9-1) and digs (51-32).
Simmons once again was a bright spot in the Cardinal lineup, hitting .385 on six kills and one error in 13 total attempts. Freshman outside hitter
Rachel Mennonna (Selden, N.Y./Newfield) came up with eight digs, while Grotjohn landed three service aces.
For Fredonia, junior outside hitter Kailey Falk and senior outside hitter Kristen Stanek led the way with 13 kills apiece, with Falk hitting .524. Senior setter Hallie Christopher dished out 37 assists, while senior libero Courtney Poirier totaled 13 digs. Freshman middle hitters Emma Falk and Selena Brown each finished with four blocks.
