PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.- The senior trio of
Madeline Saccocio,
Cait Gagen and
Sarah Haight recorded Plattsburgh State's three goals in their 3-1 win over The College at Brockport Friday evening at the Field House Complex.
Plattsburgh State moved to 11-3-2 overall and 6-0-2 in the SUNYAC while Brockport is now 8-6-2, 3-4-1 SUNYAC.
The Golden Eagles struck first scoring off a free kick and tapping it in past the goalie in the 29
th minute to take a one goal lead.
Less than one minute later Saccocio (Schenectady, N.Y. / Schalmont) tied the game with a quick move around a Brockport defender and put the ball into the top left corner of the net, Gagen picked up the assist.
Eight minutes later Gagen (East Syracuse, N.Y. / East Syracuse-Minoa) took the lead for the Cardinals with a breakaway, dribbling through the Golden Eagles defense and putting the ball in the top right corner past the keepers reach.
Plattsburgh State led 2-1 at the half and recorded 13 shots, five on goal.
The Cardinals defense held the Golden Eagles to just four shots in the second half only allowing one shot on goal.
In the 68
th minute Haight (East Meredith, N.Y. / Charlotte Valley) secured the Cardinals lead scoring off a quick pass from Gagen and tapping the ball into the bottom left corner past the keeper.
Plattsburgh State recorded 13 shots in each half with 12 being on goal compared to Brockport's 10 shots, five on goal.
Nichole Gibson (Arkport, N.Y. / Arkport) recorded her 11
th win of the season making four saves in her 90:00 minutes in goal.
Gagen had six shots all of which were on goal and Haight also had six shots with two on goal. Saccocio had five shots, one on goal and recorded her 15
th goal of the season.
The Cardinals are home on Saturday to play No. 12/16 SUNY Geneseo at 1 p.m. for Senior Day and their last regular season SUNYAC game.
