TROY, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team was in action on Monday night in a non-conference tilt with the RPI Engineers.
It was a back and forth affair for the majority of the night. Both the Cardinals and Engineers traded opportunities to score, and were not able to convert, at least in the first half.
In the 73' minute, it was Emily Kaplan of the Engineers who danced around just outside the Cardinals 18-yard box and found just enough room to get off a shot that sailed in the back of the net.
Kaplan's goal would be the decision maker in the 1-0 victory for RPI.
Despite its chances to score, the Cardinals were outshot by a margin of 22-8 for the contest, and now sit with an overall record of 5-4 on the year.
Plattsburgh State goalie
Nichole Gibson (Arkport, N.Y./Arkport) made 10 saves against the Engineers.
Gibson and the Cardinals return home this weekend for SUNYAC conference play against the Oswego State Lakers on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Field House Complex.
