Men’s Lacrosse Clinches Postseason Berth after 10-4 Victory against Oswego

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's lacrosse team (8-7, 4-2 SUNYAC) wrapped up its regular season Saturday afternoon at the Field House Complex against Oswego, defeating the Lakers by a final score of 10-4. With the win, Plattsburgh State clinched a SUNYAC Tournament bid as the No. 3 seed and will travel to No. 2 Brockport on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Five Cardinals tied with a team-high two points today as 10 different players registered a point. Matt Renko and Ryan Hubbard each tallied two goals apiece. Matt Massaria got his seventh win on the year, stopping 11 of 15 shots on goal.

The Cardinals would open the game on a 4-0 scoring spree in the opening 11:32 of the game. Ryan Callahan, Renko, Pat Nash, and Hubbard would all combine for the four goals. Luke Krizman would end the run, scoring the first of his three goals on the day. Brendan Damm would make it 5-1, slipping in his 27th goal of the season with just three seconds left in the quarter.

Nick DeCeglia would open the second quarter with another Cardinal goal to make it 6-1. After Krizman's second goal, Mitch LaBianca and Ryan Hubbard would score two straight before the end of the half to give Plattsburgh State a 8-2 edge.

The second half would see the two sides trade goals as each team scored a lone goal in each quarter. Renko opened the third with his 10th goal of the season to make it 9-2. In the fourth, long-stick midfielder, Ben Ramsdell would go coast-to-coast for his second goal of the season, 1:20 into the fourth quarter. Krizman collected his hat-trick goal with 1:48 left in the game to cap the scoring at 10-4.

Wyatt Russo ended with 20 saves on the day for the Lakers in the losing effort.

Joey Kromer had another solid performance in the face-off circle going 12-for-18, including opening the game with four straight wins.

Defensively, Plattsburgh State had 17 caused turnovers, headlined by seniors Connor Gorman and James Grau who each ended with four.

Plattsburgh State dominated Oswego across the board, outshooting the Lakers 49-28 and almost doubling them in ground balls at 47-24.
