PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's lacrosse team returned to the field for the first time in 11 days to host No. 9 Middlebury Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Panthers 10-8 and snapping a three-game winning streak.
The Cardinals would get on the board first as seniors
Matt Renko and Mitchell Labianca connected to make it 1-0 less than five minutes into the game.
However, Middlebury would strike for four-straight to end the first quarter which was fueled by three goals by Jack Gould to take a 4-1 lead into the first break.
Plattsburgh State and Middlebury would trade the next four goals to close the first half and into the third seeing the Panthers hold a 6-3 lead.
The Cardinals would then go on a three goal streak of their own to knot the game up at 6-6 with 3:44 left in the third.

Austin Belz each accounted for the Plattsburgh State tallies.
Once the game returned level, Middlebury would tally back-to-back goals to reclaim the lead at 8-6 with 10:52 left in the fourth quarter.
The Cardinals wouldn't go quietly as Labianca and
Patrick Nash would combine for two more goals and get the game back even at 8-8 with just 7:15 left to play.
With the game tied, Middlebury would net the final two goals in Tuesday's afternoon contest when Tim Giarrusso broke the 8-8 tie at 5:36 before Jon Broome would cap it off with 3:17 left and make it 10-8 Panthers.

Matt Massaria finished the game with seven saves while counterpart Will Ernst made six saves for Middlebury.
The Cardinals owned a slight shot advantage finishing 35-30 ahead of the Panthers but Middlebury owned a 17-14 edge with shots on goal.
The biggest differences in the game was in ground balls and face offs as Middlebury won a 34-23 ground ball battle and went 12-20 in the faceoff circle.
Plattsburgh State featured eight different goals scorers on eight goals and senior
Brendan Damm finished with a game-high four assists.
Plattsburgh State sits .500 overall at 3-3 and will travel to Boston on Saturday to take on MIT at 4 p.m.
