ONEONTA, N.Y. – It took just one goal to decide the outcome of the Plattsburgh State women's soccer game against the Oneonta Red Dragons on Friday afternoon in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, they were held scoreless for the entirety of the match.
The Red Dragons got on the board early in the game. Amanda Roney received a through ball in the Cardinal 18-yard box and beat Plattsburgh goalie
Nichole Gibson (Arkport, N.Y./Arkport) in the 4' minute of the match.
Plattsburgh and Oneonta would trade jabs for the remainder of the contest, but the Cardinals could not find the equalizer, while the Red Dragons were unable to add an insurance goal.
Despite one goal allowed on the day, Gibson did finish with a total of 15 saves between the pipes. As a team the Cardinals were outshot 22-11 for the contest.
The loss for Plattsburgh breaks the unbeaten streak in conference play. The Cardinals were previously 3-0 in conference, but are now 3-1 and 8-5 overall.
Plattsburgh State will look to regroup and get back in the win column tomorrow, when they visit the New Paltz Hawks for another SUNYAC conference match slated to start at 1 p.m.
