CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's volleyball team closed out State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on Saturday afternoon at SUNY Cortland's Corey Gymnasium, defeating Buffalo State, 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-21), before falling to SUNY Oneonta, 3-0 (29-27, 25-19, 25-14).
Plattsburgh State moves to 12-16 overall (2-7 SUNYAC) with the results and wraps up its season at the Dig Pink Invitational hosted by Oneonta from Friday-Saturday, Oct. 28-29. The Cardinals face Baruch College at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, before squaring off with Hartwick College (12:30 p.m.) and Elmira College (3 p.m.) on Saturday, Oct. 29. Buffalo State moves to 6-23 overall (0-9 SUNYAC), while Oneonta moves to 12-15 overall (7-2 SUNYAC).

Sophomore outside hitter
Sam Colombo (Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) led Plattsburgh State with a double-double (15 kills, 12 digs), while freshman outside hitter/right side
Hunter Grotjohn (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) floored 11 kills. Sophomore setter
Sydney Gabriel (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) dished out 35 assists, while freshman libero
Bryanne Yasui (Honolulu, Hawaii/Moanalua) defended 11 digs.
For Buffalo State, freshman middle hitter Lauren Hansen recorded a team-high seven kills, while sophomore setter Katherine Marte doled out 18 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist Victoria Rigler reinforced the back row defensively with 16 digs.
Oneonta 3, Plattsburgh State 0 (29-27, 25-19, 25-14)
Plattsburgh State was limited to a .108 hitting percentage in the nightcap, as the Red Dragons locked up the No. 2 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament.
Colombo and Grotjohn keyed the Cardinal attack with 11 and 10 kills, respectively, while Gabriel finished with 25 assists. Freshman middle hitter
Dani Borunda (Salt Lake City, Utah/West) put up a strong presence in the front row, totaling three blocks (one solo, two assist).
For Oneonta, senior outside hitter Paige Carpluk hit .429 (15-3-28) to lead the Red Dragon offense, while junior right side/middle hitter Melissa Voyer landed six service aces. Freshman defensive specialist Lindsay Pelaccio paced the back row defensively with 12 digs.
