Women’s Soccer Blanks Fredonia on Senior Day

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – It was senior day for the Plattsburgh State women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play. The Cardinals hosted the Fredonia Blue Devils and came away with a decisive 5-0 victory.

Cardinal senior Anissa Hartmann (Farifax, Vt./BFA Fairfax) and junior Madeline Saccocio (Schenectady, N.Y./Schalmont) each had two goals on the afternoon.

Adding to the Cardinal scoring, freshman Rachael Moran (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington) scored her first goal of the season when she connected for a header on a corner kick from teammate Sarah Haight (East Meredith, N.Y./Charlotte Valley).

The Cardinals outshot the Blue Devils 20-12 for the contest. Plattsburgh State goalie Nichole Gibson (Arkport, N.Y./Arkport) made five saves before giving way to Taylor Adams (Schenectady, N.Y./Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) who registered one save in helping to shut out the Blue Devils.

The Cardinals are now 10-6 overall this season and advance to 5-2 in SUNYAC conference play.

Next weekend marks the last weekend of regular season games for Plattsburgh State. The team will be on the road visiting the Brockport Golden Eagles on Friday, and the SUNY Geneseo Knights on Saturday.
