BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey team visited Buffalo State Saturday night, battling the Bengals to a 1-0 win.
The Cardinals would collect the only goal in the contest at 9:36 into the first period when
Brandon O'Quinn connected with senior
Michael Radisa for his seventh of the season to give Plattsburgh State a 1-0 lead.
The remaining 50 minutes would go back and forth as each team would fight for offensive momentum.
Both teams would go a combined 0-11 on the power play with the Cardinals finishing 0-5.
Plattsburgh State would outshoot the Bengals 31-24.
Spencer Finney would earn his second shutout of the season, stopping all 24 Bengal shots including numerous breakaways and odd man rushes. His counterpart Mike DeLaVergne would finish the night with 30 saves in the losing effort.
With the win, the third-ranked Cardinals complete the Western N.Y. sweep and improve to 16-3-1 overall and remain on top of the SUNYAC at 9-1-1. Buffalo State drops to 9-6-4 (5-4-1 SUNYAC).
The Cardinals will return to the Stafford Ice Arena on Friday to host rival Oswego at 7 p.m. in a SUNYAC tilt.
