NEW HAVEN, Conn. – As the Plattsburgh State men's lacrosse team has rediscovered its winning ways over the course of the last week, there have been individuals in each game who have enjoyed some dominant performances.
On Saturday afternoon against Western Connecticut State, the Cardinals saw their offense come fast and furious from any number of players.
A total of 10 different Plattsburgh State players scored a goal and the Cardinals used an eight-goal second period to open up an 11-2 lead before coasting to a 14-11 triumph over the Colonials at Albertus Magnus University.
It marks the fourth consecutive victory for the Cardinals who improved to 4-2 while the Colonials dropped to 0-5 in their latest non-conference setback.
While there weren't any glaring statistical advantages, the body of work Plattsburgh State submitted in the second frame was a big part of the win. The Cardinals owned a 14-3 shot advantage in that 15-minute span.
Drawing a crowd when he had possession of the ball, junior
Brendan Damm took on the role of the Cardinals' set-up man in the first quarter. The Montauk, N.Y., product was money in the passing department, dishing out assists on scores by
Jack Felter,
Cole Andersen and
Ryan Callahan in the opening frame.
The Colonials managed to keep it close, though, receiving goals from Jesse Beatty and Patrick Mulligan which made the Cardinals' edge just 3-2 heading to the second.
 Just 30 seconds ticked off the clock in the second quarter before the Cardinals hit pay dirt on the offensive end.
Ryan Hubbard took a
James Read feed and sent a laser past Western Connecticut netminder Kevin Seery to make matters 4-2.
Hubbard's score would serve to open the floodgates as face-off specialist
Joey Kromer, Damm, Read, Felter , Hubbard and
Tom Monahan each recorded at least one goal. Damm and Hubbard each notched two goals apiece in the second-period offensive onslaught.
The lead bulged to as many as 10 goals for Plattsburgh State when Callahan struck again in the early stages of the third to make things 12-2.
Western Connecticut outscored the Cardinals 9-3 in the final two periods, but
Patrick Nash and
Brian Headrick each netted scores to help Plattsburgh State withstand the Colonials' last-ditch comeback attempt.

Matt Massaria played 34:40 and turned aside 10 potential Western Connecticut goals. The Floral Park, N.Y., product allowed just three goals in his time in net and saw his goals against average dip to 7.30.
Seery put in 20 minutes of service between the pipes and made seven saves in the loss.
Next up for the Cardinals will be a Wednesday afternoon bout with Connecticut College in Radnor, Pa. Cabrini College will serve as the host institution for the tilt which is scheduled to begin at noon.
