Cardinals Fly Past Cadets, Score First Win of Season

NORWICH, Vt. – The Plattsburgh State women's basketball team notched its first win of the season against the Norwich Cadets 63-47 on Tuesday night.

Devona Paul, Stephanie Linder and Jax Miller combined for 45 points in the winning effort. Miller hit 4-8 from downtown and finished with a team high 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the winning effort.

In addition to Miller's efforts, Paul finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, while Linder tallied 13 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

The Cardinals led at halftime 30-25 over Norwich, despite only shooting 25% from three points range.

However it was a second half explosion that helped to seal the deal for the Cardinals.  Plattsburgh State outshot Norwich 22-5 in the third, the team combined for 44% shooting from the field and 46% from beyond the arc in the third and fourth quarters.

Shyann Josler and Heather LeBlanc both contributed 14 points for the Cadets in the losing effort.

Plattsburgh State is now 1-0 on the season, while handing Norwich its first loss of the year. The Cadets are now 2-1.

You can see the Cardinals when they make their home debut this Friday at 6 p.m. to kick off the Cardinal Classic Tournament at Memorial Hall.
