ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State volleyball team did not begin the Oneonta Dig Pink Invitational the way it would have hoped on Friday evening, as it fell to Ithaca College in three sets (25-13, 25-12, 25-21).
The Cardinals drop to 7-19 while Ithaca moves to an impressive 27-3, having now won its seventh straight match.
An uneven first two sets saw Plattsburgh State floor just five kills in each frame and shoot at clips of .148 and -.074.
The Cardinals were coupled with much better play in the deciding set, slamming down 13 kills and hitting .226.
Sydney Gabriel led Plattsburgh State with six kills on .556 shooting, while also giving out 14 assists.
Noelle Miller scored a service ace and collected a pair of solo blocks and block assists.
In one of her final matches as a Cardinal,
Amanda Robinson led the team with 11 digs.
The Bombers' Joelle Goldstein starred as she registered 12 kills on 23 attempts while also hustling down 10 digs. Kayla Gromen finished with game-highs in assists (29) and digs (11).
Saturday marks the final day of the 2015 season for the Plattsburgh State volleyball team. The Oneonta Dig Pink Invitational continues at 10 a.m. when the Cardinals will take on Elmira, followed by a 12:30 p.m. finale against Bard.
