PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's soccer team fell for the second straight day in a 3-2 State University of New York Athletic Conference decision to the Brockport Golden Eagles on Saturday.
The first half was friendly to the Cardinals. Junior forward
Alexis Archilla found the back of the net twice in helping Plattsburgh State get an early lead in the SUNYAC showdown. Archilla's first goal came in the 23
rd minute off a rebound from Brockport goalie Casey Sullivan. It was 16 minutes later when Archilla knotted his second goal in the 39
th minute.
The Cardinals had a 2-0 lead heading into the second half. This is where Brockport turned things around.
David Rougeux tallied the first goal of the game for the Golden Eagles in the 46
th minute of play. In the next 15 minutes Brockport would score two more times on goals by Peter DiLorenzo to put the Golden Eagles in front 3-2.
The Cardinals were outshot by a margin of 15-8 for the contest. Plattsburgh State goalie
Mitchell Jordon made nine saves in net, while Sullivan tallied three stops.
Plattsburgh State will host a quarterfinal round next weekend against the Potsdam Bears.
