ONEONTA, N.Y. – Late game heroics propelled the No. 14 ranked Plattsburgh State men's soccer team past the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons in a 1-0 decision on Saturday.

Nicholas Laurent netted the game winning goal in the 90
th minute from teammate
Jonathan Gamboa. Gamboa bought the ball up the sideline and sent a nice cross in front of the Red Dragon net. The ball passed over a cluster of defenders and found Laurent all alone to send a volley that went straight over Oneonta goalie Vincent Pellegrino.
Laurent currently ranks second in scoring for the Cardinals with six goals this season. Second only to
Alexis Archilla who enjoyed a nice five goal game on Friday against New Paltz.
It was a battle of the top two seeds in the SUNYAC as Oneonta held the one spot, while Plattsburgh State was ranked second prior to game time.

Mitchell Jordon made seven stops in net including a huge save on a penalty kick in the 88
th minute which sparked the counter attack that led to Laurent's game winner.
The Red Dragons led in shots 14-6 and corner kicks 8-4 during the SUNYAC tilt.
Plattsburgh State improves to 11-1-2 on the season while SUNY Oneonta drops to 9-3-1.
The Cardinals next match will take place on Friday at 3 p.m. when they welcome Fredonia State to kick off homecoming weekend.
