BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Brittany Marshall led the Plattsburgh State women’s basketball team (10-13, 7-10 SUNYAC) to a 75-69 road victory over State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rival Brockport (3-21, 0-17 SUNYAC) Friday.

The Cardinals lead for the majority of the first half and took a seven point lead into the locker room at the halftime break.

The second half proved to be much tighter as the Golden Eagles fought back. The lead changed five times in the second stanza as Brockport took the lead on a Cecilia Sigrist layup with 5:48 remaining in the game. The lead did not last for long though, as the Cardinals surged back in front for the final time when Marshall nailed a three-pointer just 26 seconds later.

Marshall scored a career-high 27 points in the win for the Cardinals, including hitting 5-of-9 three point attempts. Dana Nucaro continued her recent scoring spree by notching 14 points and eight rebounds, while Kathleen Payne added to her record-breaking single-season tally with 14 points of her own.

Despite having five players’ notch double-digit points, the Golden Eagles could not find a way past Plattsburgh for a first conference win of the season. Sigrist led the team with 17 points, Phoebe Byrnes added 16 points, and Rachel Csakany scored 12 points, and Donya Rolle and Desiree Fauvelle hit 11 and 10 points respectively.

The Cardinals will be back in action tomorrow when they visit Geneseo for the last regular season game of the 2011-12 campaign at 2 p.m.
