Plattsburgh Snaps Eight-Game Skid with Win at Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y.
  - Taylor Amarando scored a team-high 20 points as the Plattsburgh State women’s basketball team defeated Potsdam, 67-53, in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest at Maxcy Hall.

The Cardinals grabbed a lead they would not relinquish on an Amarando layup 4:16 into the first half.  Plattsburgh improves to 7-15, 4-12 in the SUNYAC.  The Bears drop to 3-20, 2-14 in conference play.

Amarando shot 8-for-15, picked up four boards and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.  Dana Nucaro also reached double figures in scoring with 11 points.  Nucaro, Stephanie McCoy and Nora Campbell grabbed 7 rebounds apiece.

Potsdam’s leading scorer, Aimee Kellicutt notched a double-double for the Bears with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Plattsburgh shot 44.4 percent (24-54) to Potsdam’s 29.3 percent (17-58).  The Cardinals were 16-for-19 from the free throw line, while the Bears shot 12-for-14.

The Cardinals hit the road for the final weekend of the regular season with Plattsburgh set to face Buffalo State on Friday.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
