FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team finished the weekend on a positive note with a 3-1 win at Fredonia in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action. The Cardinals improve to 16-7-1 overall and 8-7-0 in conference play.
With Plattsburgh on the power play, Dan Sliasis knocked home a rebound at 19:04 of the first period from Eric Satim and Vick Schlueter to give the Cardinals a late-period 1-0 lead.
The teams battled through a scoreless second period before Fredonia’s Mat Hehr tallied his 10th of the year from Bryan Ross and Mitch Kulikoski at 9:44 of the third period.
Kyle Kudroch beat Fredonia goaltender Mark Friesen on the glove side to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead at 17:54 in the final period of play. Schlueter and Barry Roytman picked up assists on the eventual game-winner.
Dylan Clarke secured the win on an empty-net goal with 20 seconds to play, his team-leading 16th of the season.
Shots on the night were even at 23 apiece. Ryan Williams got the start between the pipes for Plattsburgh, making 22 saves. Friesen recorded 20 stops for the Blue Devils.
The Cardinals close out the regular season at home against Potsdam on Friday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.
