Plattsburgh State Falls to Plymouth State in Road Matchup

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey team continued its 2026-27 campaign on the road Saturday afternoon, taking on Plymouth State University in a non-conference matchup. The Cardinals battled throughout the contest but ultimately fell to the Panthers, 4-3.

The matchup marked the sixth meeting between the two programs, with the all-time series entering the game tied at 2-2-1. Plattsburgh State earned a 4-0 shutout victory in last season's meeting, which also came during the second game of the regular season.

The Cardinals struck first late in the opening period, capitalizing on a power-play opportunity at the 18:39 mark. First-year defenseman Jules Delepoulle (Amiens, France) opened the scoring with his first goal of the season, assisted by senior captain Vladislav Pshenichnikov (Moscow, Russia) and junior forward Gabriel Filion (Montreal, Quebec), giving Plattsburgh a 1-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.

Plymouth State responded early in the second period, tying the game at 5:25 as David Matousek found the back of the net off assists from Ronan Walsh and Patrick O'Connell. The Panthers added two more goals to take control of the game, with William Jasmin scoring at 8:13 before Lucas Jones extended the lead to 3-1 at 14:42.

Plattsburgh answered late in the period as Delepoulle recorded his second goal of the afternoon at 17:59. Alessio Nardelli (Laval, Quebec) and Louis Sweenor (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) picked up assists on the play, cutting the deficit to 3-2 heading into the final period.

Plymouth State regained its two-goal advantage early in the third, as Severi Sulonen scored at 4:46 off an assist from O'Connell. The Cardinals continued to push back, with junior forward Tyler Ramm (Westborough, Mass.) finding the back of the net at 12:23 to bring Plattsburgh within one at 4-3. Ramm's goal was unassisted, but the Cardinals were unable to find the equalizer in the closing minutes as the Panthers held on for the victory.

Plattsburgh finished 1-for-3 on the power play, while Plymouth State went 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

With the loss, Plattsburgh State moves to 1-1 on the season and will return to action on Friday, Nov. 13, opening SUNYAC play at home against Oswego State at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.
