Cardinals Fall Short in 4-3 Loss at Buffalo State

Boxscore

BUFFALO, N.Y.
– The Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team rallied three times but could not overcome Buffalo State, falling 4-3 to the Bengals.  The Cardinals drop to 15-7-1 overall and 7-7-0 in conference play, dropping to fifth place in the State University of New York Athletic Conference standings.
Shane Avery gave the Bengals an early lead on his fifth of the year from Clay Lewis at the 3:26 mark of the first period.

With Plattsburgh on the power play, Dylan Clarke tied the game up at 7:46 from Eric Satim and Mike Grace.

Buffalo State regained the lead five minutes later on a goal from Trevor McKinney, his team leading 16th.
Four minutes later, Kyle Kudroch tallied a power-play goal from Paul Puglisi and Ryan Corry.  But the rally was short-lived, as Mac Balson put the Bengals up by one with 1:10 left in the first period.

Seven minutes into the second period, Buffalo State stretched the lead to 4-2 on a goal by Anthony Orange with the Bengals on a power play.

Clarke cut the lead to 4-3 on his second of the night from Vick Schlueter and Ryan Craig at the 14:51 mark of the second, but the Cardinals were unable to find the back of the net in the third period.

The Cardinals held a 28-16 edge in shots.  Josh Leis and Ryan Williams split time in the Plattsburgh net.  Leis allowed four goals on 11 shots, while Williams stopped all five shots he faced.  Carr recorded 25 saves for the Bengals.

Plattsburgh will look to turn it around tomorrow night, as they travel to Fredonia for a 7 p.m. game.
