Plattsburgh, Elmira Play to 2-2 Tie in Men's Hockey

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.
– Elmira scored late period goals near the end of the second and third period, erasing both Plattsburgh leads and forcing a 2-2 tie in a non-conference game at the Stafford Ice Arena.  

The Cardinals broke the scoreless tie when Dylan Clarke’s buried a rebound at 12:36 of the second period.  Eric Satim and Mike Grace picked up assists on the power-play goal.

Elmira’s Kevin Willer found the back of the net for his eleventh of the year at 17:17 from Wes Consorti and Darcy Vaillancourt, knotting the score at 1-1.

At 14:59 of the third period, Plattsburgh’s Nick Jensen took a puck off his body and blasted a shot past Elmira goaltender Darren McDonald, giving the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.

With an extra attacker on, the Soaring Eagles scored the game-tying goal at 18:39 on Willer’s second of the night.

Shots on goal were 28-27 in favor of the Cardinals.  Plattsburgh’s Josh Leis recorded 25 saves.  McDonald made 26 stops between the pipes for Elmira.

The Cardinals are off until January 17, when they host Williams College at 4 p.m. at the Stafford Ice Arena.
