Payne, Larivee reach double figures for the Cardinals

CORTLAND, N.Y.--Despite outrebounding the hosts, the Plattsburgh State women's basketball team couldn't capitalize during a 78-47 loss at Cortland on Friday in State University of New York Athletic Conference action at Corey Gymnasium. The Cardinals drop to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in the SUNYAC while the Red Dragons up their record to 9-2 and 4-1 in the conference.

Kathleen Payne came off the bench to lead the Cardinals with 12 points and Lindsey Larivee chipped in 10. Nora Campbell pulled down a game-best eight rebounds and Payne added seven as the Cardinals held a 40-38 advantage on the glass.

Jennifer Patten led five Red Dragons in double digits with 20 points, followed by Micki Volpini with 19, Brittany Cohen had 12 and Molly Byrne and Jen Polan, 10 each.

Plattsburgh shot only 25.5 percent from the field for the game and couldn't recover from a 35-22 deficit at halftime. Cortland never trailed during the contest.
