Plattsburgh Triumphs on Senior Night

Four Cardinals Recognized Before the Game

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State men's hockey team received goals from four different players en route to a 4-1 victory Saturday against visiting Fredonia State in State University of New York Athletic Conference play at the Stafford Ice Arena. The Cardinals improve to 16-4-4 overall and 12-2-1 in the SUNYAC, while the Blue Devils drop to 16-6-2 and 8-5-2 in the conference.  BOXSCORE

Plattsburgh had a commanding lead in shots on goal, 43 to 22, including 15-5 in the first period when the Cardinals struck twice, both times on the power play. Mike Grace scored at the 2:54 mark on a pass from Dylan Clarke and Phil Farrow found the net at 16:57 on a rebound of a Ryan Corry shot.

Andrew Willock and Matt Bessing tallied insurance goals in the second and third periods.  Willock joined fellow seniors Tom Breslin, student assistant coach Ward Smith and Farrow in a pregame ceremony.

Fredonia's lone goal came late in the game on the power play--and with an extra attacker--by Jordan Oye, his 15th of the season. Steve Rizer and Mitch Kulikoski were credited with assists.

Plattsburgh's Josh Leis made 21 saves, including several stops from point-blank range.
