Docking, Kudroch Propel Plattsburgh Past Bengals

Pair Combine for Five Points

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Jared Docking scored three points and Kyle Kudroch had two goals as nationally No. 5-ranked Plattsburgh State doubled up visiting Buffalo State, 4-2, in State University of New York Athletic Conference men's hockey action on Friday before a near-sellout crowd of 1,910 at Stafford Ice Arena.  BOXSCORE

The Cardinals won their fifth home game in a row to improve to 15-4-4 overall, including an 11-2-1 SUNYAC mark. The Bengals (6-16-1, 2-12 SUNYAC) have lost six straight.

Plattsburgh took a 2-0 lead as Docking assisted on both of Kudroch's goals 41 seconds apart during the same shift late in the first period.  He has 12 goals on the season.

D'Arcy Thomas cut the deficit in half on a power play goal, his eighth of the year, 4 minutes and 11 seconds gone in the second period.  Nick Petriello and Ryan Ramage assisted on the play.

The teams traded the next two goals as Plattsburgh's Ryan Corry scored at the 15:42 mark of the second period and Buffalo State's Justin Knee while on the power play at 12:05 in the third.

With 1:51 remaining in the game, Buffalo State coach Nick Carriere called timeout and then pulled the goaltender for an extra attacker with the face-off deep in the Plattsburgh zone.  The Bengals had good traffic in front of the Plattsburgh goal, but had only one shot on goal to show for it.

Docking added an empty-net goal, unassisted, with 43 seconds to ice the win for the Cardinals, who outshot the Bengals 36 to 17.

Buffalo State went 2-for-5 with the man-advantage and killed off all five Plattsburgh attempts, including a 5-minute major midway through the opening stanza without allowing a shot to keep the game scoreless at that point.

Johnathan Sourwine had 32 saves for the Bengals while Ryan Williams countered with 15.
