POTSDAM, N.Y. – Eric Satim scored twice to lead the Cardinals to a 4-1 win over the Potsdam Bears in State University of New York Athletic Conference men’s hockey at Maxcy Hall. Plattsburgh improves to 6-4-0 overall and 4-4-0 in conference play.
Four minutes in the first period, Jared Docking fed the puck to Satim, who found the back of the net for his fifth of the year. Nick Jensen also assisted on the goal, giving Plattsburgh a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, Potsdam missed an opportunity to tie the game when the Bears send a puck through the crease behind Josh Leis and missed a wide-open net.
The Bears retaliated on Brandon Couto’s unassisted goal with 5:23 left in the first period, tying the game at 1-1 at the end of the first period.
Satim tallied his second of the night, a power-play goal just 32 seconds into the second period. With the teams skating 4-on-4, Kyle Kudroch gave the Cardinals a 3-1 lead on a goal from Paul Puglisi and Dylan Clarke.
Barry Roytman took a feed from Kyle VanDermale behind the Potsdam net, knocking in Plattsburgh’s fourth of the night.
Plattsburgh held the edge in shots, 47-19. Leis picked up 18 saves in his fifth win. Potsdam goaltender Trevor O’Neill recorded 43 stops, 25 of them coming in the second period.
