CANTON, N.Y.--The Plattsburgh State women's basketball team received a double-double from Taylor Amarando and a career-high 16 points by Kathleen Payne, but it wasn't enough as the Cardinals dropped a 72-58 non-conference decision on the road to Saint Lawrence at Burkman Gymnasium on Tuesday. Plattsburgh falls even at 2-2 while the Saints remain unbeaten at 4-0.
Amarando posted 12 points and grabbed a team-best 11 rebounds while Payne connected for a team-high 16 points. Nora Campbell added 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
SLU's Kelly Legg led all scorers with 20 points, followed by Casey Capello with 16 and Katherine Edgerton, 15. Edgerton also had eight rebounds as the Saints controlled the glass, 43-36, including 15 to 9 on the offensive end.
Plattsburgh led early on by three points but eventually trailed 29-20 at the half. The Saints maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the second half.
Both teams played sloppy basketball with 22 turnovers apiece and each converted just over 40.0 percent of its field goal attempts.
