GENESEO, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State women's basketball defense allowed the Geneseo Blue Knights to score 38 points in the first half of the duo's State University of New York Athletic Conference game, but the Cardinals came out strong in the second and held Geneseo to 27. It was not enough to create an opportunity to let the Cardinals slip by and take the lead, but it closed the gap. Geneseo won the contest, 65-47.
Plattsburgh drops to 2-12 for the season, 0-8 in the SUNYAC, while their host rises to 9-6 overall, 5-3 in conference play.
Plattsburgh's Casey Clark finished the game just shy of a double-double. Clark posted nine points on the scoreboard and pulled down 11 rebounds. Stephanie McCoy led the Cardinals in scoring with 13 points and Molly Harte topped the team with four blocks and four steals, also matching Clark with nine points.
The Blue Knights never trailed the Cardinals during the game and were led by Bri Dunton. Dunton scored a game-high 16 points, dished out a team-high six assists and was second on the team with six boards. Liza Rufer sank 13 points for Geneseo and Meghan Prue pulled down seven rebounds.
Plattsburgh travels to Potsdam next Tuesday to take on the Bears. Gametime is set for 6 p.m.
