Eagles Soar by the Cardinals

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Brockport Eagles soared past the Plattsburgh State women's basketball team, 60-50, in a State University of New York Athletic Conference game. Bringing the Cardinals to 2-11 for the season, 0-7 in the SUNYAC, and the Eagles to 4-10 overall, 2-5 in conference play

The Cardinals grabbed their lone lead of the game with just over six minutes left in the first half after Molly Harte sank two layups to place Plattsburgh ahead 21-18. Brock tied the game at 23 with 2:03 left to play in the half thanks to a jumper by Lacey Grove and then pulled ahead soon after following a three-pointer by Whitney Smith. The Eagle would enter the half with a 28-25 lead.

Brockport's lead would increase throughout the second half, but Plattsburgh's defense always managed to hold them to 10 points or less.

Taylor Amarando recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Stephanie McCoy was second on the team with 10 points and Molly Harte led the squad with 11 boards.

For Brockport, Smith posted 22 points and six rebounds. Meanwhile, Rachel Czakany made 12 points and pulled down 13 boards for a double-double.
