Cardinals, Ephs Battle to 1-1 Tie

Willock Salvages Draw for Plattsburgh

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Visiting Plattsburgh State and Williams each scored a goal in the second period as the nationally ranked teams settled for a 1-1 overtime tie in non-conference men's hockey action at Chapman Rink on Monday. The No. 3 Cardinals move to 10-2-4 while the No. 15 Ephs are now 7-3-2. BOXSCORE

The low-scoring affair also featured a virtually penalty-free game. Plattsburgh--the least-penalized team in the nation--did not commit an infraction while Williams was whistled three times for six minutes.

After a scoreless first period, the teams traded goals in the second. Williams struck first 6 minutes and 8 seconds into the period with Matt Masucci sixth goal of the season, assisted by Mark Lyons and Connor Olvany. But Plattsburgh answered quickly 42 seconds later when Andrew Willock netted his fourth on the year on assists from Kyle Taylor and Matty MacLeod.

Plattsburgh outshot Williams 32 to 26, carrying the play in the first period with a 16-7 advantage on goal.

Josh Leis made 25 saves for the Cardinals and Ryan Purdy had 31 for the Ephs.
