Oneonta, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State women's basketball team wraps up their weekend State University of New York Athletic Conference roadtrip winless after falling 49-71 to Oneonta. The Cardinals drop to 2-5 on the year, 0-2 in the SUNYAC, while Oneonta rises to 2-3 overall, 2-0 in conference play.
For the first time this season, Stephanie McCoy led the team in scoring with 10 points. Caitlin O'Keefe followed tossed up nine points, nabbed three steals and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds. Taylor Amarando dished out three assists for the Cardinals and was third on the team in scoring, along with Kerri Salisbury, with seven points.
Katie Wilverding and Sara Chrystie recorded a game-high 12 points apiece for Oneonta, while Gabi Regan made 12 rebounds and four assists for the Red Dragons. Chrystie also led the day with four steals.
The Cardinals started slow, scoring only 17 points in the first half, but made a comeback in the second and posted 32 points on the board. Oneonta played solid the whole game, recording 33 points in the first and 38 in the second.
Plattsburgh takes off for winter break next week, not returning to action until January 5 at Middlebury at 5:30 p.m.
