PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State men's hockey team used five different scorers en route to a decisive 5-1 victory Friday over visiting Cortland in a State University of New York Athletic Conference game at the Stafford Ice Arena. The top-ranked Cardinals improve to 3-0 both overall and in the SUNYAC while the Red Dragons drop to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference. BOXSCORE
With Plattsburgh up 1-0 in the second period, Kyle Kudroch took a pass from Kyle VanderMale after 1 minute and 32 seconds gone to score what proved to be the game-winning goal, his first of the season. Eric Satim made it 3-0 just 16 seconds later on a feed by Matty MacLeod.
The Red Dragons cut the deficit to 3-1 at the 12:36 mark of the second period when Patrick Palmisano scored his fifth of the season. Jake Saville was credited with an assist.
Chris Wieland, Vick Schlueter and Patrick Jobb also scored for the Cardinals, who outshot the Red Dragons 34-20.
Ryan Williams (2-0) made 19 saves in the win while his Cortland counterpart Doug Danzi had 29.
After three games, 10 players have accounted for 13 Cardinal goals and 17 scorers have at least one point.
