Plattsburgh State Athletics

Cheryl Cole enters her sixth year as the Associate Director of Athletics and her 30th year overall at Plattsburgh State in 2024-25.

Cole, who served as the Cardinals' head women's basketball coach from 1997-2020, is the program's all-time wins leader (249) and guided Plattsburgh State to its first-ever women's basketball State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship in 2013-14, also serves as the department's Senior Woman Administrator and has been a part of the department's administrative team since 2002-03. She twice served the College as an interim director of athletics, first serving in that capacity during the spring of 2004 before working in that role again as a co-interim director of athletics during the spring of 2016.

Her administrative responsibilities include: transportation, scheduling, NCAA compliance, overseeing game administration, supervising all part-time assistant coaches, serving as the department's designated search chair, and coordinating annual NCAA reporting. Cole also serves on SUNY Plattsburgh's emergency response committee and is an ex officio member of the Plattsburgh State Athletics Hall of Fame Committee and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. As a part of her role in the department, Cole is also a member of the SUNYAC Governing Body.

Cole is a 1986 graduate of the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She also earned a Master of Science degree in human development from Rochester.
