Matt Lein is set to begin his second tour of duty as the assistant coach of the Cardinals' volleyball team in 2015.

Lein, who hails from Chicago, Ill., began his coaching career at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Fla., where he served as an assistant coach since 2009.

From 2009-13, Lein was the student assistant coach for the Sharks. His primary duties included overseeing the distribution and management of team video as well as opponent film breakdown.

He saw his responsibilities increase when he was named as an assistant coach for the program prior to the 2013-14 academic year. Lien oversaw the development of the Sharks' corps of middle blockers and assisted in the recruitment and retention of players in addition to his continued role as the program's film expert.

Aside from putting in time with the NCAA Division II squad, Lein also appeared in various coaching roles for no fewer than two club teams around the area.

While in high school, Lein was a standout volleyball player for his squad. A two-time team captain, he earned team MVP honors during his final two years of competition. As well as his career on the volleyball court, Lein played high school hockey for four seasons and earned the title of team MVP upon the conclusion of his senior year.

Lein obtained his bachelor's of science degree in psychology from Nova Southeastern in 2013.
